A Theater Without Limits
The Mill Race Theatrical Company is a non-profit immersive theater venue and maker space in the heart of Mt. Holly's art district.
Staffed by a multi-generational and multicultural ensemble interested in bringing new ideas to the world of live performance, TMRTCo specializes in original works that blur the line between storytelling and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Our first show, The Poe Project, was set during the Halloween season and was based on the strange life and times of famed American author, Edgar Allan Poe. Our December production was a multi-cultural holiday cabaret named The Holiday Thingy, which celebrated the season with light-hearted musical performances, dancing, and storytelling. In Spring 2017, we performed an original "play-within-a-play" named Lady Dunsworth's Dilemma. It highlighted the humor and drama tying a small group of thespians together while they attempt to perform a Victorian Drawing room comedy. Later this year, we'll be producing Theater of Fear, an immersive horror-show reviving the days of Paris' Grand-Guignol, and The Witches' Summoning, an immersive mix of magic, music, and Halloween.
By blending a mix of modern practical effects and cutting edge projection technology, The Mill Race Theatrical Company creates feature-length productions that place you right in the middle of the experience.
In 2017, we will also be hosting a number of smaller productions between our main shows. These include musical performances, educational classes, and pop-up shows from other local groups and choirs. Keep an eye on our calendar for exact dates and details.
Education and Classes
At Mill Race, we believe that education and collaboration keeps us on the cutting edge of theater. To bring the best experience to our audiences, we host weekly classes in acting, special effects, stagecraft, script-writing, theater management, and more. Our teachers come from all walks of life, from professional actors & actresses to historians and Emmy award winning art directors.

Our commitment to Mount Holly
Based on a 2016 study, theater events generate an additional $24.60 in revenue per ticketholder for local businesses. We always encourage our patrons to come early to Mount Holly so they can shop and dine before the show. At the end of each show, we remind the audience to stop in town for a night cap or dessert before they leave. Beyond that, we provide free access to trade skills, technology classes, and mentorships for residents. This is a part of the rising tide we hope will lift our community and we are working hard to keep our town moving in the right direction. All we need is your help to make that happen.
